July 23, 2008 04:00 am Josh Workman doubled twice and Bryan Pounds drove in two runs as the visiting Oneonta Tigers earned a 6-3 New York-Penn League victory over the Batavia Muckdogs on Tuesday night. Darwin DeLeon (3-1) earned the victory, allowing two runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out one and walked two. Aaron Fuhrman got his first save, giving up one run on two hits over the final 3 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked none. The O-Tigers (17-16), who snapped a two-game skid, continue their three-game series with the Muckdogs (18-15) at 7 p.m. today. After finishing the three-game set Thursday, Oneonta returns home for a three-game series with Stedler Division rival Tri-City at 7 p.m. Friday. The two will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, then close their series at 6 p.m. Sunday at Damaschke Field. Oneonta opened the scoring in the top of the third inning. Ben Guez reached on a fielding error by shortstop Domnit Bolivar. Workman followed with a double to right, putting runners on second and third and setting up a sacrifice fly by Pounds for a 1-0 lead. Billy Nowlin then reached on a fielder's choice that moved Workman to third. Workman scored on an RBI single to right field by Angel Flores. The O-Tigers got another run in the top of the sixth, on a two-out, RBI triple by Brent Wyatt. The Muckdogs scored twice in the bottom of the inning. With two out, Shane Peterson was hit by a pitch. Blake Murphy followed with a home run to left field, marking his third homer of the year. After Bolivar walked, Fuhrman replaced DeLeon and got Xavier Scruggs to ground out to short to end the inning. Oneonta's offense kept rolling in the seventh. Ben Guez walked, stole second and advanced to third when Workman grounded out to first. Pounds followed with a single to right to score Guez for a 4-2 lead. Nowlin then singled to left. He reached second and Pounds scored when left fielder Frederick Parejo made a fielding error on the play. Nowlin reached third on a passed ball by Murphy and Flores walked. After Wade Lamont struck out swinging, Gosse drove in Nowlin with a single to center. Wyatt then walked to load the bases, chasing Ramon Delgado. Reliever Rigoberto Lugo got White to ground out to first to end the inning.
