Three Batavia pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the host Muckdogs earned a 5-3 New York-Penn League victory over the Oneonta Tigers on Wednesday night.
Winning pitcher Miguel Tapia (4-2) gave up two runs on two hits over five innings. He struck out two and walked one. Scott Gorgen followed with three innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out four and walking one. Adam Reifer struck out one in a perfect ninth to earn his league-leading 10th save.
Oneonta (17-17) finishes a three-game series at Batavia at 7 tonight. The Tigers return home for a three-game set with Tri-City beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.
The Muckdogs (19-15) snapped a 2-all tie in the bottom of the fifth.
With one out, Beau Riportella doubled to left off losing pitcher David Stokes (2-2). After Jose Garcia was hit by a pitch, Colt Sedbrook singled to load the bases. Shane Peterson followed with a three-run double to center to make it 5-2.
Hayden Parrott homered to left _ his second this season _ for the O-Tigers with two outs in the sixth inning to make it 5-3, but Oneonta had one runner reach second base for the remainder of the game.
Batavia opened the scoring on a sacrifice fly from Domnit Bolivar in the bottom of the second to make it 1-0.
Oneonta took the lead in the third on a two-run homer by Ben Guez, his team-leading third of the season.
Chris White walked to start the inning and moved to second when Brent Wyatt grounded out to second baseman Sedbrook.
Guez followed a shot to left to make it 2-1.
The Muckdogs tied the score in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Peterson.
Besides the homers hit by Parrott and Guez, Billy Nowlin had Oneonta's other hit.
Stokes allowed five runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked none. Santo Mieses, Tyler Conn and Anthony Shawler each pitched an inning of relief and each had two strikeouts. Mieses walked one and Conn allowed one hit.
