Tigers get rained out

Rain washed out the last part of a three-game series between visiting Oneonta and the Batavia Muckdogs on Thursday, but the Tigers gained some ground in the New York-Penn League's Stedler Division.

Second-place Oneonta (17-17) pulled within one game of first-place Vermont, which fell, 8-1, at the Brooklyn Cyclones on Thursday. The Lake Monsters fell to 18-16.

Batavia and Oneonta, which split the first two games of their series, are not scheduled to meet again this season. No date has been announced to make up for Thursday's rainout.

The Muckdogs (19-15) are tied with defending NY-Penn champion Auburn for third place in the Pinckney Division. Jamestown leads the division with a 23-10 record, followed by Williamsport (19-14).

The Tigers return home today for a three-game series against the Tri-City ValleyCats. Oneonta hosts T-C at 7 tonight at Damaschke Field. The two follow with a 2 p.m. game Saturday at Doubleday Field, part of the 2008 National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend. Their series closes at 6 p.m. Sunday back at Damaschke.
