September 30, 2008 04:00 am Oneonta State's Tim Sagasti and Kayla Murphy earned SUNY Athletic Conference player of the week honors in men's and women's soccer, respectively, Monday. Sagasti, a freshman, scored his first three college goals Saturday in the Red Dragons' 5-1 victory over Fredonia. Sagasti, also named one of O-State's athletes of the week Monday, also had an assist. O-State is 6-2-1. Murphy, a sophomore, earned shutouts in goal in 1-0 victories over Buffalo State and Fredonia. She made four saves against Buffalo State and five against Fredonia. The Red Dragons are 6-3. O-State athletes of the week Along with Sagasti, O-State named junior volleyball player Christine LaGuardia its athletes of the week. LaGuardia, a junior, was named to the all-tournament team at the O-State Invitational on Friday and Saturday, when the Red Dragons went 3-1 to finish second. For the week, LaGuardia had a team-high 51 kills and 78 digs. Cobleskill athlete of the week Freshman cross-country runner Andrew Gelston earned athlete of the week honors from SUNY Cobleskill. Gelston won the Mountaineer Invitational at Southern Vermont College on Saturday, completing the 8-kilometer course in 29 minutes, 46.32 seconds and helping the Fighting Tigers to the team title. Gelston's time was a course record. Delhi athletes of the week Freshman cross-country runner Chris Burke and freshman volleyball player Renee Ladlee were named SUNY Delhi's athletes of the week. Burke rank his first collegiate 5-mile race at Wesleyan University, finishing sixth in 27:14. Ladlee earned all-tournament honors at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga CC.
