{"HeadlineLight14"/}Franklin girls to wear pink

The Franklin girls soccer team will wear pink jerseys to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month today, when the Purple Devils play Morris in their final home game of the regular season.

At the event, which also will mark Franklin's Senior Appreciation Game, the Devils will accept donations that will be given to the American Cancer Society.

Jack Huckel, the National Soccer Hall of Fame's director of museum and archives, will serve as color analyst for Thursday's National Soccer Coaches Association of America College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel.

Huckel will help broadcast an America East Conference women's soccer game between Boston University and host Binghamton University at 8 p.m. Thursday. The match will be televised locally on Time Warner Cable channel 129; DIRECTV channel 619; and DISH Network channels 149 and 877.

Huckel, a former high school and college soccer player who coached the sport for 30 years, has earned an NSCAA Premier Diploma and a U.S. Soccer A' Coaching License.

The Colonial Ridge Golf Course in Laurens will host three tournaments that are open to the public this month.

The Minute Man Cup Fall Classic tees off at 8 a.m. Saturday. This 27-hole event (captain-and-mate; best ball; alternate shot) is for two-person teams. Cost is $25 per person. Greens fees and carts cost extra.

The Impossible Pin Captain and Crew starts at 11 a.m. Oct. 24. Cost is $20 per person. Greens fees and carts cost extra.

The Frostbite Open, also a captain-and-crew event, begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun start Oct. 25. Cost is $20 per person. Greens fees and carts cost extra.

Sport Tech in Oneonta will host a fitness and heath day from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

Dr. David Joseph, a podiatrist, will be available for free foot consultations from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday. Kristin Sloth (massage therapy and certified rolfing) will give free chair massages from noon-2 p.m. No appointments are necessary.

Sport Tech also will host Joey Adams from Intelligent Fitness of Shelburne, Vt. Adams will conduct metabolic testing until 6 p.m. Appointments are still available for the testing, which is not free.

Laura Delay, from Optimal Fitness, will conduct body composition analyses from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. as well. Appointments and walk-ins will be accepted for this test, which is not free.

{"HeadlineLight14"/}Roberts to appear at Baseball Hall

National Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Robin Roberts will appear at the Cooperstown shrine at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Voices of sthe Game event inside the museum's Grandstand Theater.

Elected to the Hall in 1976, Roberts won 286 games and had six consecutive 20-win seasons. A seven-time All-Star, right-hander Roberts pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs over 19 seasons. Roberts also led the National League in pitching victories four times.

Tickets are required and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. To purchase tickets, call the Hall's membership department at 607-547-0397.

{"HeadlineLight14"/}Youth football set for Sunday

The Delhi Pee Wee Football Association will host two games Sunday at the Delhi American Legion Field near the pavilion.

The Delhi American Legion Jets will play the Sherburne T&M Jr. Marauders at 1 p.m., followed by the Delaware National Bank Bulldogs and the Sherburne Sr. Marauders at 3 p.m.

{"HeadlineLight14"/}Utica-Rome banquet Nov. 8

Utica-Rome Speedway will close its season with its annual awards banquet at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at Turning Stone Casino and Resort. The top 10 points leaders in the 358-modifieds, sportsman, pro stocks and pure stocks will be recognized, among others.
