Florida Atlantic (2-9-1) entered 0-4 in conference play. Hartwick (4-3-5, 1-0-1) has shut out three straight opponents and four of its last five. The Hawks have lost once in their last 10 games, a span that includes five ties. Nick Roydhouse and John Paul Boyle took three shots apiece for the Hawks, who held an 11-10 advantage in shots. Gallusser, the Fighting Tigers' athlete of the week, then scored off an assist from D'Ondre Webb two minutes before halftime. Freshman Gallusser, The Daily Star's Player of the Year in 2006, assisted the second of Sarpong's second-half goals. Delhi goalie Cristian Canencio, who made seven saves, scored on a 70-yard free kick to give the Broncos a 3-1 lead with 23 minutes left in the first half. "He hit a ball into the box and the keeper came out to catch it, totally misread it and it went over his head," Delhi coach Geoff Moore said. Makaren scored Delhi's first two goals and Nielsen scored the team's last two to give the Broncos a 5-1 lead. "Things were getting a little bit cheap and physical after that, so I started taking a lot of my guys out," Moore said. "With two games left, I didn't want anybody to get hurt." Giroux scored off an assist from Megan Rivage, shooting low to beat Red Dragons keeper Kayla Murphy. Plattsburgh (11-2-1, 5-2) is the only team to defeat Oneonta (9-4-1, 6-1) in conference play over the last 10 years, including twice over the last two seasons. Last season, the Cardinals ended O-State's 101-match conference unbeaten streak with a 4-0 home win on Oct. 6. Giroux scored all four goals in that win. O-State's last SUNYAC loss at home came Sept. 21, 1996 _ a 1-0 setback to Oswego. The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead on Emily Riley's goal after she stole the ball from an Oneonta defender. Plattsburgh scored on two of its three shots. O-State, which hit three posts and the crossbar once in regulation, tied it eight minutes into the second half as Caitlin Burke scored from the top of the box. Dello finished the 3.1-mile race in 19 minutes, 51.9 seconds. Justin Pedersen (G-MU) placed 62nd to lead Hartwick's men to 10th place. He covered 8 kilometers in 29:40. The Hawks compete in the Williams Invitational this Saturday. {"HeadlineLight14"/}Volleyball O-State goes 2-2 Oneonta State split four matches over the weekend, beating Greensboro and Sul Ross on Saturday after losing to Wisconsin Lutheran and the host school Friday in the University of Dallas Tournament. The Red Dragons (14-15) defeated Greensboro, 21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 15-13. Senior Caitlin Ross had 12 kills, 11 digs and six aces; Christine LaGuardia had seven kills and 10 digs; Jess Ptasnick had 19 assists and eight digs; and Jillian Richards had five kills and five blocks. O-State downed Sul Ross, 25-14, 25-23, 25-14. LaGuardia led the way with five kills and 14 digs. Sarah Petrignani contributed seven kills, Ptasnick had 16 assists and Ross had six kills. Against Wisconsin Lutheran, Richards had seven kills in the Red Dragons' 25-18, 25-14, 25-19 loss. Denise Hardy had four blocks, and Jess Zerega had three kills and 12 digs. Ross had seven kills and Ptasnick contributed 15 assists in O-State's 25-15, 25-15, 26-24 loss to the University of Dallas. Megan Boeltz had four kills and five block assists, and Petrignani contributed five kills. O-State travels to Plattsburgh this weekend for the second SUNYAC Round Robin Tournament. Interleague Challenge Hartwick lost, 25-22, 25-13, 25-13, to Potsdam before losing to Skidmore, 25-17, 25-22, 25-12, on Saturday in the Union College Interleague Challenge. Against Potsdam, Courtney Desmond and Kerry Sisson had eight and five kills, respectively, and Darcy Dolge contributed 17 assists. Sisson had six kills against Skidmore. Desmond and Dolge had five kills apiece. Dolge earned all-tournament honors after finishing four matches with 87 assists, eight kills and six blocks. The Hawks (9-17) return home for the Hartwick College/Holiday Inn Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Hartwick's first three matches are against Utica, Lycoming and St. Lawrence. Keuka Invitational SUNY Cobleskill (5-11) lost to Hamilton, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 15-11; to Medaille, 21-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-21; and to D'Youville, 25-21, 25-9, 25-15 on Saturday. Adrianna Lyons (Cooperstown) finished with 21 kills and 10 digs. Kristen Kukan contributed 52 assists and nine aces, and Natasha Mamrosh had 23 kills and five blocks. Cobleskill travels to Castleton State on Tuesday. {"HeadlineLight14"/}Tennis SUNYAC Championships Oneonta State's second doubles team of Emily Shannon and Katie Wlodarczyk knocked off the Nos. 1 and 2 teams en route to a title Sunday at the Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius. Shannon and Wlodarczyk, seeded third, beat top-seeded Vivian Cheung and Katie Gayvert of Geneseo, 7-5, 6-4, in the final. They also beat second-seeded Lyndsay Lovinger and Lindsay Trifiletti of New Paltz, 6-1, 6-1. Shannon and Wlodarczyk earned first-team all-conference honors. Third-seeded Wlodarczyk also advanced to the final at third singles, where she lost to No. 1 Julia Passik, 6-2, 6-3. Wlodarczyk topped No. 2 Stephanie DiCapin of Cortland, 6-1, 6-2, in a semifinal. At fifth singles, O-State's Carly Fried defeated top-seeded Molly Dingley of Geneseo, 7-5, 6-4, in the semis before losing to New Paltz's Kerri Serkes, 6-2, 6-4, in the final. Wlodarczyk and Fried earned second-team all-conference recognition. O-State finished fourth out of eight schools with 14 points. Geneseo won with 30, followed by New Paltz (28) and Cortland (22). O-State returns its top six players for next season.
