The Oneonta High junior varsity girls soccer team completed a 15-0-1 season with a 4-2 victory over Chenango Forks in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference championship game.
OHS went 13-0-1 during the regular season en route to the STAC's Central Division championship, then beat STAC West Division winner Horseheads, 3-2, in a conference semifinal. The Jackets then beat East Division champ CF in double-overtime.
Coached by Matt Miller, Oneonta outscored its opponents, 64-12, this fall. Seneca Baldwin, Cami Cleaveland, Shelby Cleaveland, Theresa DiMartin, Leah Elsbeck, Joanna Foti, Brianna Georgia, Sienna Glavin, Alex Graig-Tiso, Amy Hait, Colleen Hait, Roxy Harrison, Kali Murphy, Abby Michelson-King, Danielle Nicosia, Olivia Rule, Michelle Sason, Emmee Sloman, Josephine Sloman and Lauren Ward competed for OHS this season.

Brian Lowe, Windham Country Club's PGA Director of Golf, earned Senior Player of the Year honors from the Northeastern New York PGA Section, the organization announced Oct. 20 during its annual Fall Membership Meeting at Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs.
The NENY PGA also Josh Hillman (Berkshire Hills CC) as its Player of the Year; Tye Grissom (Wolferts Roost CC) as its Assistant Player of the Year; and Frank Mellet (Colonie G&CC) as its Vardon Stroke Average Winner.
As a result of the NENY PGA Executive Committee's elections, SUNY Delhi's Tom Philion advanced into the vice president role and Jeremy Kerr of the Oneonta Country Club was selected as a director at-large. All board positions serve tenure of 2-year terms.

Jim Dillenbeck and Vic VanSteenburg won the Oct. 19 Neptune Diner Open Bass Tournament on Goodyear Lake to clinch the Susquehanna Bass Association's Anglers of the Year award.
The duo filled the five-fish limit with a weight of 17.94 pounds, which included Dillenbeck's 6.96-pound, 21.5-inch largemouth bass that won lunker of the tournament and big fish of the year honors.
Tom Berg and Monte Westcott placed second at 13.21 pounds, Pat McNeil and Bill Beadle finished third at 12.03 pounds, and Steve Llewellyn and Frank Microni were fourth at 10.75 pounds. McNeil caught a 5.49-pound largemouth bass that stood as the big fish of the year for about 10 minutes as Dillenbeck's 6.96-pounder soon followed.
Lou Blasetti Jr. caught the big smallmouth of the day, at 2.92 pounds.
Dillenbeck and VanSteenburg completed all 11 SBA events this season and won the Anglers of the Year with a total weight of 150.77 pounds. Bruce Hall (11 events, 147.51 pounds), Vincent Fink (10, 122.1) and Westcott (11, 114.02) followed in the overall standings.

The Oneonta Orcas, the Oneonta Family YMCA's swimming team, opened their season Oct. 25 at the Auburn Stingrays and earned 26 first-place finishes. The Orcas' D Girls (ages 9-10) and E Boys (8-and-younger) won their age-groups.
Seven swimmers qualified for the March state meet in Buffalo. Their results are as follows.
B Girls (age 13-14): Kari Knudson, 100-yard backstroke (1:16.07); Stephanie Havens, 50 freestyle (28.97) and 100 butterfly (1:16.38).
C Girls (11-12): Madison Allen, 50 breaststroke (39.82).
D Girls (9-10): Claire Garfield, 50 breaststroke (44.40).
D Boys (9-10): Patrick Calhoun, 200 free (2:52.52).
Boys (8-and-younger): Akiva Garfield, 100 individual medley (1:43.93), 25 butterfly (22.46) and 25 breaststroke (20.75); Joel Levins, 100 free (1:30.31), 50 free (38.47) and 25 backstroke (20.84).

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host a Halloween trick-or-treat adventure for children in costumes and their parents or guardians from 3-5 p.m. Friday.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame will welcome Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, and family members of Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente on Saturday, when the Cooperstown shrine celebrates its first Character and Courage Weekend.
The event includes the dedication of a statue depicting Hall of Famers Clemente, Lou Gehrig and Robinson as symbols of character and courage in the Hall's lobby, where it will become a permanent fixture.
Schilling will join Rachel Robinson, Jackie's widow; Vera Clemente, Roberto's widow; Luis and Roberto Clemente Jr., Clemente's sons; and author Jonathan Eig in dedicating the statue at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Other Character and Courage events Saturday include the following:

Sandlot Stories, 9:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.

Delhi Central will hold a mandatory preseason meeting for all students who are interested in playing varsity or junior varsity winter sports at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 in the high school's auditorium.
Each student must attend with a parent or guardian for the event, which will explain co-curricular rules and expectations for all sports before breaking into sport-specific meetings. Attendance will be taken.
Completed health history forms must be returned at the meeting. Current physicals must be on record with the nurse's office as well. Practices begin Nov. 10.

The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club is accepting registration for its Pickett's Basketball League, which runs from November until March.
