Hartwick's men received a goal from Jakob Karlgren in the 73rd minute that evened the score in their 1-1 Mid American Conference soccer tie against visiting Western Michigan on Saturday.
The Hawks (8-2-4) increased their unbeaten streak to 10 games. Hartwick is 7-0-3 since a loss to Bucknell in the Mayor's Cup on Sept. 11.
Hartwick (3-0-2 MAC) has one remaining conference game _ at top-ranked Akron (15-0-0, 5-0-0 MAC) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The tie ended Hartwick's chances of earning the top seed and hosting the MAC Tournament in two weeks, which will take place in Akron.
Hartwick has clinched a spot in the MAC semifinals along with Akron, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.
Karlgren's first college goal started with a throw-in by Owen Botting that went into the box. Michael Cunningham settled it and took a shot. It deflected to Karlgen, who re-directed a 5-yard shot past Broncos goalie Casey Aubin with about 17 minutes left.
Hartwick outshot Western Michigan, 14-3, after halftime.
The Hawks, despite being outshot 7-3 in the opening half, had two solid scoring chances. With 19 minutes left in the half, a long Botting throw-in was sent on by Hartwick senior Nick Pratico to Nick Roydhouse, who did not hit the shot cleanly from close range. Twelve minutes later, Steven Amaya shook off a few WMU defenders and broke in on Aubil, but his shot was smothered. The Broncos got the opening goal with 2:57 left in the first half. Luis Lemus slipped a pass on the left side to an unmarked Joel Del Toro at the corner of the 18-yard box. The freshman took two touches and bent a shot inside the far post past Hartwick goalie Jeremy Vuolo.
Hartwick held a 6-1 edge in shots in overtime. Senior Brian Gordon had Hartwick's best chance in the first 10-minute stanza. His header with 7:45 left ricocheted off the crossbar. In the second overtime, Evan Doan drove a shot wide of the post, and with just over two minutes remaining, Amaya's shot from 35 yards hit the crossbar.
Aubil made seven saves. Vuolo stopped five. The Hawks closed with 17 shots to the Broncos' 10. Hartwick also took all seven corners.
The Hawks host Binghamton University at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

O-State freshman Ian Tenzer converted the final penalty kick of a shootout that allowed the host Red Dragons to advance in a SUNY Athletic Conference quarterfinal.
The Red Dragons won the shootout, 4-3, after the teams played to a 0-0 tie through regulation and two overtimes.
O-State (12-4-2) will play at top-seeded Plattsburgh at 3 p.m. Friday in a semifinal. Cortland's season ends at 5-9-3.
Sidney graduate Steve Axtell made six saves for Cortland, the 2008 conference champion.
Jonathan Korn made three saves for O-State, which twice needed defenders to kick away shots headed for the goal.

Visiting Hartwick overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to earn its first victory in the Empire 8 Conference on Saturday. Delhi graduate Nate Rockefeller scored on a 7-yard touchdown run with 1 minute, 19 seconds left to snap a 27-all tie. Rockefeller gained 55 yards on the final drive, which started with 2:37 left.
Rockefeller finished with college-high 130 yards on 23 carries.
Hawks senior quarterback Brian Radley completed 11 passes for 191 yards and three touchdown passes _ all to classmate Noah Koreman, who had five catches for 139 yards. The last of their touchdown plays came on a 10-yarder with 9:22 left and tied the score at 27.
Oneonta High graduate Ben Tomaino had 13 tackles, including five sacks, for the Hawks (5-3, 1-3), who close out the regular season at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 against visiting St. John Fisher. Tomaino has nine sacks this season. Koreman was named one of two Empire 8 Conference Offensive Players of the Week. Tomaino earned one of the conference's Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Hartwick College lost, 25-17, 25-14, 25-13, to Elmira College and then defeated SUNY Cobleskill, 27-25, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 15-7, Saturday at home.
Chelsea Jordan and Courtney Desmond had seven kills apiece for the Hawks against Elmira. Brianna Eckert contributed 13 digs.
Against Cobleskill, Desmond had 18 kills, 27 assists and six blocks. Darcy Dolge contributed 12 kills, 27 assists and six digs in her final college match. Lauren Mausert had 11 kills and 14 digs. Cobleskill was led by Abigail Vanderveen's 14 kills and nine blocks. Samantha Burkart earned 25 assists and Margaret Trombly, Andrianna Lyons (Cooperstown) and Krista Grady combined for 37 digs. The Fighting Tiers (10-13) also lost, 25-12, 25-13, 25-21, to Elmira College. Cobleskill competes in the NEAC tournament this weekend.

Oneonta State lost to Keene College, 22-25, 20-25, 25-11, 25-17, 25-11, and to the host school, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-14, in the Brandeis Invitational on Saturday.
Kacy Boburka had 10 kills, Jess Zerega had 16 digs, Jillian Richards had eight kills and seven blocks, and Megan Boeltz had eight block assists against Keene. In the loss to Brandeis, Boburka had nine kills and Zerega had 24 digs. Christine LaGuardia contributed 13 digs and nine kills, and Boeltz had 10 kills. Kelsey Klopfer finished with 34 assists and eight digs. The Red Dragons (17-18) travel to Union on Tuesday. Then at 2 p.m. Thursday, they play Brockport in a SUNY Athletic Conference semifinal at New Paltz.

Morgan Cestari's fourth goal of the season broke a scoreless tie in the 42nd minute of Hartwick's Empire 8 Conference road victory. Brittany Baughman had the assist for Hartwick (11-6, 5-1), which held advantages of 20-0 in shots and 16-1 in penalty corners.
Kelsey Kimble scored four minutes later off a scramble in front of the net for her eighth goal of the year. Jen Kaye capped the scoring with less than two minutes left off a pass from Molly Quinn. Hartwick travels to Stevens Institute of Technology next weekend for the Empire 8 Conference tournament. The second-seeded Hawks open against No. 3 Washington & Jefferson at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. No. 4 Ithaca faces the host at noon.

Classmate Travon Smith contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Broncos, who led, 45-30, at halftime.
