Melissa Beale gave Oneonta State the hook Friday.
Beale curved a 25-yard shot into the upper-left corner of the goal with 10 minutes, 20 seconds to play, leading fifth-seeded Geneseo to a 1-0 women's soccer stunner over No. 1 Oneonta in a SUNY Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal at Red Dragon Field.
Beale, who carried the ball about 35 yards before her decisive shot, may have ended Oneonta's 10-year streak as an NCAA Division III Tournament qualifier.
The SUNYAC regular-season champion Red Dragons (11-5-3) have won nine of the last 10 conference tournament titles, which carry automatic NCAA berths. O-State failed to win the SUNYAC Tournament in 2006 but still made it to the NCAAs as an at-large selection. That season, the Red Dragons tied Geneseo, 1-1, in a SUNYAC Tournament semifinal, but the Blue Knights advanced to the championship match with a 7-6 shootout victory at the National Soccer Hall of Fame fields. O-State finished 18-3-1 in 2006.
Three of Oneonta's five losses this season have come against conference opponents _ 2-0 at Brockport on Oct. 3, 2-1 at home against Cortland on Oct. 23, and Friday's semifinal setback to the Blue Knights. Third-seeded Brockport fell, 1-0, to No. 6 Cortland in a SUNYAC Tournament quarterfinal last Saturday.
Cortland (12-4-3) will play Geneseo (13-4-2) for the for the title at 1 p.m. Saturday at Red Dragon Field. Cortland tied No. 2 Fredonia, 1-1, in Friday's other semifinal but advanced to the championship match with a 3-0 shootout victory. Fredonia moved to 11-5-3 with the tie.
The NCAA field will be announced Sunday night.
Jamie Chyat made five saves for Oneonta, which outshot Geneseo, 11-7, and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Oneonta High graduate Eileen Coyle, The Daily Star's co-Player of the Year in 2004, took two shots for the Blue Knights.
Geneseo's scoring leader with 11 goals, Coyle received Second Team All-SUNYAC honors Thursday.
The SUNYAC honored seven O-State players with all-conference selections, including four first-teamers. Beth Cherry, Melissa vandenBergh, Caitlin Burke and Kayla Brantmeyer received First Team accolades for the Red Dragons, who had second-teamers in Erin Boyle, Nha Wright and Dana DeSimone.

Joe Bogart flicked a header past Oneonta State goalie Jonathan Korn in the 74th minute as top-seeded host Plattsburgh won a SUNYAC Tournament semifinal.
Chris Taylor set up the goal by sending a free kick from 35 yards out to the top of the goalie box. Taylor earned his 15th assist of the season on the play, which marked Bogart's second goal this year for the 20th-ranked Cardinals (13-2-4).
Earlier in the second half, Korn stopped point-blank shots by Pat Shaughnessy and Bart Misiak en route to five saves. Plattsburgh freshman Andy Heighington made one save for his seventh shutout.
Fourth-seeded Oneonta (12-5-2) took both of its shots in the second half, when Plattsburgh had seven of its nine shots.
Plattsburgh, which won its 499th game Friday, plays No. 2 seed Brockport for the SUNYAC title and an automatic NCAA berth at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Brockport (10-5-2) advanced with a 1-0 semifinal win over No. 3 Geneseo (9-7-2) in Friday's other semifinal.
O-State placed eight players on the All-SUNYAC teams this season, including first-teamers Even Jedynak and Jonathan Kowalski. Korn, Matt Lindemann, Eric Fortier and Ian Tenzer received Second Team honors and Nick Gregg and Dan Scott made the Third Team.

Hawks to play No. 1
Hartwick will end its Mid-American Conference schedule at top-ranked Akron at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Hawks (9-2-4, 3-0-2) can clinch the second seed for the MAC Tournament, which runs Nov. 13-15, with a victory Saturday. Should Hartwick lose and Western Michigan defeat Buffalo, the Hawks will be seeded third.
The top-seeded Zips are 17-0 this season and have allowed four goals. Teal Bunbury leads Akron with 33 points on 15 goals and three assists. Goalie David Meves has 11 shutouts and a goals against average of 0.24.
Dan Summers leads Hartwick with 11 points, on four goals and three assists. Goalie Jeremy Vuolo has seven shutouts and a goals against average of 0.56.
The Hawks are 8-0-3 in their last 11 games. They are 1-4-2 all-time against the Zips, including a 1-1 tie in a MAC semifinal last season. Akron beat Hartwick in a shootout to advance to the tournament final.

Hartwick begins its quest for the Empire 8 Conference crown Saturday in Hoboken, N.J.
The second-seeded Hawks (11-6), who went 5-1 in conference games, play No. 3 Washington & Jefferson at 2:30 p.m. in Saturday's second semifinal. Top-seeded host Stevens opens the final-four round at noon against No. 4 Ithaca.
Saturday's semifinal winners will play for the E8 title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Hartwick's conference loss came Oct. 17, a 1-0 double-overtime setback against Stevens. The Hawks have outscored their other five E8 opponents, 11-1.
Kelsey Kimble has a team-best 20 points on eight goals and four assists for Hartwick, which has received 19 points on seven goals and five assists from Jen Kaye. Goalie Mackenzie Chapman has four shutouts and a 1.22 goals-against average this season under 22nd-year coach Anna Meyer, who is 271-148-3.
Hartwick is seeking its first E8 tournament title since 2005 and its ninth NCAA berth.

O-State swept
Oneonta State's men and women dropped SUNYAC meets to visiting New Paltz, 153-108 and 154-102, respectively.
Oneonta High graduate Alex Miller won the 100-yard backstroke (57.13 seconds) and the 400 individual medley (4:35.15) for the Red Dragons' men, who also received two victories apiece from Joseph Farrell (200 freestyle, 1:48.42; 500 free, 5:02.83) and Steven Hourigan (100 butterfly, 58.55; 200 butterfly, 2:13.69).
Samantha Pepe paced Oneonta's women with victories in the 200 butterfly (2:25.63) and the 400 IM (5:14.64).
The Red Dragons host Utica at 1 p.m. Nov. 14.
