Madie Harlem earned Anthony C. Drago Tournament MVP honors for the second straight year as the Oneonta High girls basketball team beat Niskayuna, 59-46, in Saturday's final.
Harlem scored 26 points in the championship game for the Yellowjackets, who beat the Warriors, 56-37, in the 2007 Drago title game.
OHS (2-0) opened a 22-10 lead after the first quarter Saturday but had problems with Niskayuna's man-to-man defense thereafter, coach Bob Zeh said.
"They switched to man-to-man and we had a little trouble," Zeh said. "It's the first man we saw this year in games or scrimmages. We need to work on that because we'll see a lot of that."
Sienna Wisse and Meredith Ridgway earned all-tournament honors for OHS. Wisse finished with 17 points and Ridgway had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Val Ridgway grabbed eight rebounds.
Wisse scored 15 points in the first half.
"We played well," Zeh said. "They're a good team. ... We had a nice lead, they came back and had it down to five. We were able to click back and extend it. It was a good game for us. They are similar to teams we'll see in the (Southern Tier Athletic Conference)."
The Yellowjackets visit Norwich on Friday.
