Delhi rallies for 34-32 win

Devon Bedient rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries to help visiting Delhi rally for a 34-32 Section Four Football Conference Division VI win over Harpursville on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0) rallied from a 20-6 halftime deficit with the help of a 20-point fourth quarter.

Bedient's 3-yard score with 2 minutes, 28 seconds remaining snapped a 26-all tie. Bedient also ran in the conversion to give the Bulldogs a 34-26 lead.

Joe Nieto, who rushed 18 times for 235 yards, scored on an 8-yard run with about a minute to play for the Hornets, but the Bulldogs stopped the conversion run to hold on for the victory.

"Harpursville is pretty good and they can make you miss," said Delhi coach Dave Kelly, whose team hosts rival Walton at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday. "We didn't tackle very well in the first half. In the second half, we tackled better and people didn't get away as much."

Davionne Price amassed 121 yards on seven carries and contributed a 74-yard catch.

"We got a great day out of Davionne," Kelly said. "That's a big day and we needed every bit of it."

Trent Kathmann finished 4-for-12 for 156 yards and had a 22-yard touchdown pass to Rich Ennist in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 26.
