Errors cost OHS in 9-inning loss


Nate McDonald and Damian Zimmer had two hits apiece for Sidney. Zimmer also doubled and drove in three runs.

Winning pitcher Zak Green struck out 10 and walked two in a four-hitter.

Sidney (11-4, 8-2) will host Greene on Friday.

Unatego 5, UV 2

Tanner Winchester had an RBI single during Unatego’s two-run fourth inning and Tyler Butler had a sacrifice fly during the Spartans’ two-run fifth to lead the visitors to a Midstate Athletic Conference win.

MAC-leading Unatego led, 3-1, after the fourth inning and increased its lead to 5-1 in the fifth.

Phil Youngs went 2-for-3 for the Spartans.

Kurt Haycook and Brendan Brooker each had two hits for Unadilla Valley (5-8, 4-6), which will host Edmeston today.

Deposit 12, Afton 8

Matt Olin had a pair of RBI doubles and Ricky Parsons homered for Afton, which lost at home in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Olin’s first double was part of a three-run first. His other double and Parsons’ homer came in a five-run seventh.

The Crimson Knights (3-11, 2-8) host Bainbridge-Guilford on Friday.

B-G 9, Delhi 8

Jake Mazzarella scored the go-ahead run when Tyler Ouimet beat the throw to first on a dropped third strike, leading Bainbridge-Guilford to a road win in the MAC.

Mazzarella’s run capped a three-run seventh inning for the Bobcats, who got an RBI single from Tim Parsons to tie it at 8.

Parsons, Mazzarella and Devon Rivera had two hits apiece for B-G, one fewer than teammate Lucas Butcher.

Brandon Mole finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs, who received two hits and two RBIs from Justin Mattice. Mole singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh and was bunted into scoring position, but Austin Bauerle got his last two batters to ground out to end it.

Bauerle earned the save with his scoreless seventh, which made a winner out of Corbin Palmer.

Dylan Cumpston’s RBI double sparked a five-run second inning for Delhi (2-8, 1-8), which visits Greene today.
