Franklin rallies for walkoff baseball victory

Lynndon Huyck’s bases-loaded single in the seventh inning capped Franklin’s comeback Thursday as the Purple Devils edged visiting Morris, 11-10, in a Tri-Valley League baseball game.

Billy Davis finished 4-for-4 and Derek Beers went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs for the Purple Devils, who received four doubles, four RBIs and four runs from Joe Terrano in his 4-for-4 effort.

Andrew Dougherty, Skyler Maricle and Ryan Morlock doubled for the Mustangs.

Franklin (2-6) hosts Richfield Springs on Saturday.

RS 20, CV-S 16

Luke VanRiper went 3-for-3 with seven RBIs and two runs to lead Richfield Springs to a home victory in a Tri-Valley League slugfest.

Ben Smith doubled twice, scored twice and drove in three runs for the Indians, who received four runs from Nicholas Nicoletta and three apiece from Keegan Wheelock-Tanner and Austin Shirley.

Spencer Supak went 5-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs for the Patriots.

RS (6-4, 6-3) finished with 12 hits - one more than CV-S - and committed seven of the game’s 12 errors. The Indians visit Franklin on Saturday.

Worcester 14, Schenevus 9

Steve Griffiths’ two-run double highlighted a nine-run second inning that propelled visiting Worcester to a victory in the Tri-Valley League.

The Wolverines had six hits in the second inning. Schenevus’ third pitcher, Robert Burton, took over int he second and finished the game. He struck out 12 and yielding one additional run.

George Clements earned the win for Worcester, striking out seven in a complete game. Clements also went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Chris Mravlja contributed two hits, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base for the Wolverines.

Burton and Taylor Roseboom had two hits apiece for the Dragons (1-10, 1-9), who play at Richfield Springs on Tuesday. Burton scored two runs and Roseboom had three RBIs.
