Jackets keep rolling with 10th win

Oneonta High scored during five of its six at-bats Thursday, leading to a 13-2 Southern Tier Athletic Conference softball rout of visiting Owego.

Erin Mushtare went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs and a triple for the Yellowjackets (10-1, 9-1), who scored twice in the first inning, three times in the third and four times in the fourth for a 9-1 lead.

OHS, which closed with back-to-back two-run innings, also received three hits, three runs and an RBI from Shelby Cleaveland. Twin sister Cami Cleaveland contributed two hits and three runs.

Brieanna Baker and Brianna Haines combined on a five-hitter for the Jackets, who were coming off a 2-0 defeat of two-time defending Class B champion Windsor on Wednesday. Baker struck out 11, walked two and allowed two hits in five innings. Haines struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits in two innings of relief.

Baker and Hayley Dower doubled for the Jackets, who host Chenango Forks today.

Morris 28, Franklin 7

Alexis Joy went 3-for-3 with four runs and two doubles to lead Morris to a six-inning Tri-Valley League win on the road.

Liana Garry homered, singled and scored three times for the Mustangs, who scored eight times in the sixth inning for the final margin. Teammates Paisley Sellers and Kaylyn Oliver each tripled and singled, and winning pitcher Tessa Hitchcock went 2-for-2 with a double.

Katie Allen hit a three-run homer in the fifth for Franklin, which got a homer and two runs in a 3-for-3 effort from Marisa Cawley.

The Purple Devils (0-8, 0-8) host Richfield Springs on Saturday.

G-MU 19, Laurens 0

Marissa Mehlrose struck out seven and walked two in a two-hitter as Gilbertsville-Mount Upton won at home in the Tri-Valley League.

Lauren Hill went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs for the Raiders, who received two hits, two runs and two RBIs from Jenna Bakhuizen.
