Sophomore Emily Jweid earned Second Team recognition, and Kate Purcell and Caroline Stanford each were named honorable mention selections on the Empire 8 Conference all-star team.
Jweid led the Hawks in goals (27), points (34) and faceoffs (69).
Purcell, a junior playing her first season of lacrosse, had eight goals, four assists, 28 groundballs and 15 caused turnovers. Purcell has earned Second Team all-conference honors three times in basketball for Hartwick.
Stanford, a sophomore, led Hartwick with 42 groundballs and tied for the team lead with 17 caused turnovers. She also had three goals.
Senior Erin Doyle was Hartwick’s representative on the E8 sportsmanship team.
TRACK AND FIELD
First-Team selections Sean Bernstein, Kate Parsons, Patrick Weinert, J.D. Roth and Steve Kuzina highlight Oneonta State’s nine all-SUNY Athletic Conference honorees.
Chris Harvey, Joe Fox, Joe Carr and Jim Bernstein were named to the Second Team.
Senior Sean Bernstein, named the Male Athlete of the Week of his past weekend’s SUNYAC championships, won two events and led a relay team to victory at the SUNYAC meet. His times of 10.43 in the 100 meters and 20.97 in the 200 are the second fastest among Division III runners in the nation.
Parsons, a senior, earned the Red Dragons’ lone women’s title at the conference meet. She set a school record in the hammer throw at 164 feet, 4 inches.
Schenevus graduate Weinert, a sophomore, won the hammer this past weekend at 180-3.
Roth, a sophomore, won the shot put (48-9 ½) and placed third in the hammer (168-10).
Freshman Kuzina won the 400 hurdles in 54.71. He also placed third in the 110 hurdles.
Carr, a freshman, was runner-up in the 100 and 200 and ran legs on the 400 and 1,600 relays.
Harvey earned a medal with his second-place finish in the 3,000 steeplechase in a time of 9:28.74. Jim Bernstein finished second in the 10,000.
