Oneonta State senior Sean Bernstein cruised to victories in the 100- and 200-meter dashes Saturday in the Red Dragons’ non-scoring May Meet.
Bernstein finished those races in 10.70 and 21.36 seconds, the latter a meet record, breaking O-State graduate Joe Reed’s mark of 21.52 set in 2007.
Red Dragons sophomore Joe Fox set a meet and facility record in the shot put. His best effort went 53 feet, 3 inches, breaking the previous facility record of 52-2 ¾ set by Geneseo’s Matt Kuenzel in 2005. Fox set the previous meet record of 52-0 last season.
Schenevus graduate Pat Weinert, an O-State sophomore, won the hammer throw at 189-11, a distance that’s among the 20 best nationally in Division III this season.
The Red Dragons also received a victory from Sean Mullen in the triple jump (45-5 ¼).
In the 1,500, Andrew Bohunicky and Tom Haskins placed second and third, respectively, for O-State. Bohunicky crossed in 3:57.93 _ just behind winner Nathan Bickell of Ithaca, who finished in 3:57.75. Haskins came across in 3:58.66.
O-State’s James Longo finished second in the 5,000 in 15:06.63.
SUNY Cobleskill received a first-place finish from T.J. Moade in the 400. He finished in 49.88.
On the women’s side, O-State received third-place finishes from Kate Parsons in the hammer (152-10) and Kaitlyn Brandt in the 100 (12.91).
Princess Joefield had Cobleskill’s highest finish, placing seventh in the long jump at 14-11 ¼.
O-State and Cobleskill will compete in the ECAC Division III meet Thursday and Friday at Springfield College in Massachusetts.
On May 3 at Cortland State, Edmeston graduate Mallory Eckert won a SUNY Athletic Conference title in the javelin for Oswego State. Eckert won with a distance of 113-9.
