Kyle Bradley’s seventh double-double of the season came at a great time for the Hartwick College men’s basketball team, which clinched the top seed for the Empire 8 Conference Tournament with an 81-64 victory over visiting Elmira College on Saturday.
Bradley shot 9-for-11 from the field for a game-high 24 points and had 12 rebounds and six assists to lead the Hawks (16-9, 10-4) to their third straight victory.
Jared Suderley contributed 19 points, Joey Lufkin had 10 and Matt Petruccione scored nine on Senior Day for Hartwick, which will host the four-team E8 Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Second-seeded Stevens will play No. 3 Nazareth at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by Hartwick and fourth-seeded Alfred at 8 p.m. The winners will play for the E8 title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament at 3 p.m. this Saturday.
Chris Cassidy’s 13 points paced the Soaring Eagles (10-15, 5-9), which received 11 points from Derrick Vogek and four from Jefferson graduate Tyler Dibble.
Before the game, Hartwick recognized seniors Bradley, Suderley, Christian Laputka, Mike Geisser and Anthony Keane.
Brockport 86, O-State 71
Mikey McElroy scored a game-high 29 points Saturday, but Oneonta State lost its regular-season finale on the road.
Dan Lee contributed 11 points for the Red Dragons (12-13, 9-9), who clinched the sixth seed for the SUNY Athletic Conference Tournament and will visit Geneseo for a quarterfinal Tuesday.
Brockport (22-3, 16-2), which held a 41-39 lead at halftime, will host the conference semifinals and championship game Friday and Saturday as the tournament’s top seed. The SUNYAC Tournament champion will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA D-III Tournament.
Geneseo 68, O-State 63
Mikey McElroy scored 26 points Friday, but Oneonta State lost a SUNYAC game on the road.
Dan Lee had 11 points for the Red Dragons, who received 10 points apiece from Jack Dignan and Seth Thomsen.
