When a team wins a program-record 13 conference games to share the regular-season title, postseason accolades are sure to follow.

That was the case for the Hartwick College women’s basketball program.

Hawks coach Missy West earned Coach of the Year honors, and senior guard Maria Foglia and sophomore forward Brittney Dumas were selected as First Team all-stars by the Empire 8 Conference on Wednesday.

Hartwick (21-4), which has climbed to No. 3 in the NCAA Division III East Region poll, was the lone team to have two players picked to the First Team.

West garnered Coach of the Year recognition for the second time, the first coming in 2012. In her sixth season at the helm, West guided Hartwick to its third straight 20-win season.

Hartwick, which shared the regular-season title with Ithaca, will be seeded second in the conference tournament. The Hawks are in search of the their first Empire 8 Conference tournament championship.

Foglia, the 2013 conference Player of the Year, earned First Team honors for the third consecutive season. She leads Hartwick in minutes (32.2), three-pointers made (50), free throws made (102), and assists (76). She is also the team’s second-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder with averages of 15 points and 5.0 rebounds. Foglia ranks second in the Empire 8 Conference and 42nd nationally in three-point field-goal percentage (.391). She is third in the league in scoring and fourth in free-throw percentage (.810).

Foglia led Hartwick in scoring in 14 of 25 games and has reached double figures in all but three games. She is fifth in scoring in the Hartwick record books with 1,496 points. She ranks second in all-time three-pointers with 162 and is seven free throws short of the program record for free throws with 456.

Dumas is the only non-senior on the First Team this season. She is the team’s leading scorer (15.4 points per game) and rebounder (10.4). She is shooting 45 percent from the floor, leads the Hawks in blocked shots with 21, and is tied for second in steals with 31. Dumas ranks first in the Empire 8 and 21st in the country in double-doubles with 15 in 25 games. She is also second in the league and 58th nationally in rebounds per game and second in the E8 in scoring and field-goal percentage.

Hartwick sophomore Jessica Bellai was selected to the 2014 Empire 8 Conference Women’s Basketball Sportswoman of the Year Team.
