Gilbertsville-Mount Upton graduate Tanya Barnes had 22 points, five assists and seven rebounds as SUNY Delhi won its season opener at home Thursday night.

Transfer and Milford graduate Mariah Coville contributed eight points and G-MU graduate Bri Lambert scored six points.

Yaya Soto, who missed last season with a torn ACL, scored 16 points, and had had five assists and seven rebounds for the Broncos, who led, 32-21, at halftime.

Delhi will host the Bronco Classis tournament this weekend. It will begin with Sullivan playing Alfred State at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Delhi will oppose Finger Lakes at 4 p.m. The championship game is at 2 p.m. Sunday and the consolation game is at noon.


Hartwick men ranked

The Hartwick men’s swimming team is ranked 20th in the Endless Pools/’s national poll of Division III schools.

The Hawks are the third-highest ranked team from New York State in the poll, behind Rochester (11th) and NYU (18th). They are also second in the poll among Empire 8 programs.

Last year, Hartwick spent much of its season ranked in the top 25. The Hawks rose as high as 18th nationally following their 16-0 start to the dual meet season.

Hartwick is 3-0 this season and will host Nazareth at 1 p.m. Saturday.
