Unbeaten Schenevus routs Worcester

A vast majority of Tuesday’s high school sports events were postponed because of snow, including one that likely would have put Franklin senior Jordan Beers into an elite club.

Franklin’s Tri-Valley League girls basketball game at Gilbertsville-Mount Upton was postponed. Beers needs 12 points to become the 11th girl in Section Four history to score 2,000 points.

Beers, in her sixth varsity season, is averaging 24.7 points in leading the defending Section Four Class D Purple Devils to a 3-0 start.

No new date has been announced for Franklin’s game at G-MU. Beers’ next chance to reach the milestone will come Thursday, when the Purple Devils host Milford.

Other girls basketball games postponed Tuesday were Afton at Delhi (rescheduled for today), Walton at Unadilla Valley (moved to Thursday), Hancock at Sidney (to Jan. 3) and Unatego at Oxford (to Jan. 6). Games postponed that have not been rescheduled were Davenport at Roxbury, Margaretville at Gilboa and Bainbridge-Guilford at Harpursville.

Four wrestling meets were postoned. B-G/Afton/Harpursville vs. Unatego at Afton was moved to Friday and Delhi at Walton will now be held Jan. 23. Oneonta High’s match at Chenango Forks and Sidney’s match at Greene have not yet been rescheduled.

In bowling, Walton’s meet against Sidney has not been rescheduled.
