UV girls fall to Forks, 60-54


Edmeston 39, Deposit 29

Nina Koch and Sydney Smith combined for 33 points to lead Edmeston to a victory in the first round of the Joan Martin Tournament at Morris.

Koch finished with a game-high 18 points for the Panthers (2-6), who got 15 points and eight rebounds from Smith. Teammates Catherine Johnson and Brianna Dunham grabbed 10 and nine rebounds, respectively.

Edmeston outscored Deposit, 24-12, in the second half. The Panthers will play Morris in the championship game at 5 p.m. Saturday. Deposit (1-4) faces Sharon Springs in the consolation game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Morris 56, SS 27

Haley Wist scored 12 points in each half to lead the host school to a victory in the first round of the Joan Martin Tournament at Morris.

In addition to her game-high 24 points, Wist had eight rebounds and six steals. Kaylyn Oliver contributed eight points and eight rebounds for the Mustangs, who jumped to an 18-3 lead in the first quarter.

Allison Cross scored 16 points for Sharon Springs, which will play Deposit at 2 p.m. Saturday in the consolation game. Morris will host Edmeston for the title at 5 p.m. Saturday.

B-G 49, WP 47

Host Bainbridge-Guilford edged Whitney Point in the opening round of the Kazalski Tournament.

The Bobcats will face Marathon in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Whitney Point will meet Windsor in the consolation game.
