Youth conditioning program set
The Oneonta Family YMCA will host a sports conditioning program for youths ages 11-14 on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 1.
Registration is required for the program, which runs from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Center Street School gymnasium. The program will not run during breaks for Oneonta High or Oneonta State.

Bring a girl to O-State game
The Oneonta State women’s basketball team will host its “Bring a girl to the game” at 6 p.m. Friday, when the Red Dragons host Fredonia in SUNY Athletic Conference play.
Girls will have an opportunity to meet the team after the game.

Crappie Derby set for Saturday
The Almost-Annual New York State Crappie Derby will run Saturday in Whitney Point.
Entry fee is $2 for ages 13-and-older and free for those 12-and-younger.
Free parking is available at Dorchester Park in Whitney Point as well as the Kiebel Road extension on the west side of Whitney Point Lake.
The last Crappie Derby took place in 2011 and drew roughly 2,000 anglers and an additional 3,500 spectators. The 2011 purse was approximately $13,500.

OTC to host fundraiser
The Oneonta Tennis Center will host a fundraiser for the Oneonta State men’s and women’s tennis teams on Saturday and Sunday.
The fundraiser will consist of men’s and women’s doubles events. Eight men and eight women will play the O-State varsity tandems.
The women’s event will run from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. The men will play from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Start time is 10 a.m. Sunday.
Spots are available in both divisions. The cost is $40 for non-members and $20 for members. Proceeds will go to the O-State tennis teams.

Pitching camp continues Sunday
The Oneonta Pitching Camp for softball players ages 8-18 continues Sundays through March 2 at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club.
Session I is for advanced pitchers and runs from 1:30-3:30 p.m. To qualify, pitchers must know the fundamentals and mechanics of windmill pitching. The cost is $210.
Session II is for intermediate and beginning pitchers. It runs from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and costs $90.

Soccer camp starts Feb. 17
Hartwick College will host its Jr. Hawks Winter Indoor Soccer Camp from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 17-21.
The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-12 and costs $20 per day per camper.

Hunter education course set
The Pindars Corners Fire Department in West Davenport will host a free hunter education gun course for ages 11 and older from 5:30-9 p.m. Feb. 18-20.

Hall to offer overnights
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will offer its Extra Innings Overnights program beginning in February.
The program features a sleepover in the Hall’s Plaque Gallery for children ages 7-12 and their parents/guardians. It is open to museum members and youth groups.
Cost is $49.95 per person and includes after-hours access to the Hall’s public areas, hands-on programs throughout the museum, a late-night snack, a movie in the Bullpen Theater and a light breakfast the following morning. All junior participants will receive a Hall of Fame knapsack and mementos.
The program will run Feb. 22-23 and March 22-23 for youth groups only. It also will run March 1-2 and April 5 for members only.

O-State softball clinic Feb. 23
Oneonta State’s softball team will host a winter clinic for girls ages 10-and-older from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Alumni Field House.
