Freshman forward Mikey McElroy scored a game- and season-high 25 points Wednesday, but Oneonta State dropped a non-conference men’s basketball game, 91-75, at Greensboro College in North Carolina.

The Red Dragons (4-5) trailed by 14 points about midway through the opening half but cut its deficit to 40-33 at halftime. McElroy had 14 points in the first half. He also followed a three-pointer by classmate Zach Mager with a jumper that pulled Oneonta to two points in the first minute of the second half.

The Red Dragons stayed close in the early stages of the second half, facing a 52-50 hole when Mager hit a jumper with 12:30 to go. The Pride (3-6) pulled away thereafter.

Devan Gregory scored 21 points to lead Greensboro, which received 18 points from Damian Dixon, 16 from Will Griffin and 14 from Jermaine Bates (12 rebounds).

O-State 92, Averett 79

Senior guard Dan Lee had a game- and college-best 30 points Tuesday to lead Oneonta State to a non-conference victory over Averett (2-6) in Dansville, Va.

Lee made 9 of 12 shots from the floor, including a 7-for-10 effort from three-point range in helping Oneonta to its second 90-point game of the season. O-State opened the season with a 95-80 victory over Rochester in November.

Zach Mager contributed 27 points for the Red Dragons, who won their third straight before falling to Greensboro on Wednesday.

Mikey McElroy also hit double digits with 11 points. He added seven rebounds and five assists for Oneonta, which held a 47-37 halftime lead.
