Local umpires to meet

Local chapters of the Schohanna Board of Baseball/Softball Umpires, Inc., will hold their first business meeting of the season at 10 a.m. Jan. 26 at Lecture Hall 1 in Oneonta State’s Hodgdon Instructional Resource Center.

Anyone interested in becoming an umpire for the upcoming high school/summer seasons should attend.

Classes start Feb. 5 for baseball and Jan. 6 for softball.

O-State softball clinic Feb. 23

Oneonta State’s softball team will host a winter clinic for girls ages 10-and-older from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Alumni Field House.

Cost is $45 and pre-registration is highly recommended.

Hall accepting intern applications

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting applications for next year’s class at the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Leadership Development.

Applications for the Class of 2014 will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2014. The Steele Internship Program will provide students the chance to join the Hall in a 10-week summer internship.

To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year. Fifteen intern positions are available.

All applications must be completed online at www.baseballhall.org/intern. Candidates must attach a cover letter and resume to the online application.

Club accepting deer hides

The Bainbridge Sportsmen’s Club and Chenango Federation are accepting donations of deer hides.

Proceeds will be used to send youths to DEC camps.

Deer hides may be dropped off at the club, which is located at 23 Pearl St. in Bainbridge.
