Hartwick equestrian places fourth in Morrisville Show

Hartwick College’s equestrian team placed tied for fourth Saturday in the Morrisville Show. The Hawks and Oneonta State each finished with 26 points.

Skidmore won with 38 points, followed by Colgate (32), SUNY Cobleskill (31) and Morrisville (31).

Julia Ready, Michelle O’Dell and Jessica Hannah placed first for the Hawks. Ready won open flat, O’Dell placed first in intermediate fences and Hannah was first beginner walk trot canter.

Hartwick’s Colleen Cunningham had second-place finishes in novice fences and novice flat. Also placing second for the Hawks were: Shelby Morgan (novice fences), Christine Confer (novice flat), Daryl Orend (advanced walk trot canter) and Cooperstown graduate Kassandra Lent (beginner walk trot canter).

Hartwick had 10 riders advance to the March 22 Regionals at Saratoga Springs: Cecilia Campala (open fences and open flat), Ready (intermediate fences and novice fences), Taylor Trombley (intermediate flat and novice fences), Sarah Tessitore (novice fences and novice flat), Taylor Johnson (novice flat), Orend (advanced walk trot canter), Rebecca Campiglia (advanced walk trot canter), South Kortright graduate Cassandra Howe (advanced walk trot canter), and Ashley Zizzo (walk trot).
