Hartwick women cruise at home

Lauren Rosenberg scored five goals and Kia Ference had four Wednesday at Wright Stadium as Hartwick College cruised to a 16-5 women’s lacrosse victory over visiting Cazenovia.

Meagan Wright contributed two goals for the Hawks (4-3), who received one goal and three assists from Emily Jweid.

Meg Luce, Lisa Littleton, Ali Sisco and Megan Young also scored for Hartwick, which jumped to a 5-0 lead en route to a 9-2 halftime cushion.

Kaitlin Sheppard’s three goals and one assist paced the Wildcats (0-2), who got goals from Jessica Cramer and Kim Vrigian.

Abigail Kortz made eight saves for Cazenovia. Steph Luce stopped five shots over 39 minutes in goal for Hartwick, which received two saves from April Hargy.

Hartwick finished with advantages of 35-19 in shots and 32-22 in groundballs.

The Hawks open Empire 8 Conference play at 1 p.m. Saturday against visiting Stevens.

MEN’S LACROSSEIthaca 15, O-State 6

Six players scored for Oneonta State in a non-conference loss to visiting Ithaca College.

Devon Casey, Daniel Stern, Connor Coyle, Taylor Kalbacher, Anthony Laureano and Matthew Mazzie each had goals for the Red Dragons (1-6), who received an assist from Austin McAskill.

John Januszkiewicz finished with four goals for the 11th-ranked Bombers (5-1), who got three from Jake Long and two from Michael Walker.

James Manilla contributed a goal and three assists for Ithaca, which held a 6-0 lead after one quarter.

Oneonta, which faced a 9-2 halftime deficit, visits Wheaton College (Mass.) at 1 p.m. Saturday for a non-conference game.

WRESTLINGO-State quartet honored

Four Oneonta State wrestlers received NWCA Scholar All-American honors last Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where the Red Dragons also earned the NWCA Team Academic Award.

Seniors Dan Graff, Ben Mikac and Chad Obzud were recognized with sophomore Shaun Gillen as Scholar All-Americans.

Mikac is the fifth O-State wrestler to receive the award three times. The other three were first-time honorees and gave the Red Dragons the most individual awards from the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (4 of 10).
