O-State men rally to beat Brockport in lacrosse

Devon Boyle scored at the 5:47 mark and Capparelli’s goal with 1:39 left made it a two-goal spread, but Hartwick drew no closer.

Hartwick (15-10) will play three games at Moyer Pool this weekend. It will host Notre Dame College at 10 a.m. Saturday and then face 14th-ranked Indiana at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Hawks will play Gannon at noon.

WOMEN’S LACROSSEO-State 11, Brockport 9

Overtime goals by Nicole Boylan and Kiera McNally lifted host Oneonta State to a SUNY Athletic Conference victory over 13th-ranked Brockport on Saturday.

Boylan’s goal 1:40 into overtime snapped a 9-all tie. McNally scored her 24th goal of the season off an assist from Katie Flannery to cap the scoring a minute later.

McNally finished with five goals for the Red Dragons, who improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Brockport (5-2) scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime. Kelly Wall’s goal with 27 seconds left in regulation made it 9-9.

O-State scored five straight goals in the second half to turn a 7-4 deficit into a 9-7 lead. McNally and Nikki Fioretti each had two goals during the spurt and Catherine Clark’s backhanded goal as she was falling down capped the run.

Fioretti finished with three goals and Clark had two.

Amanda Reichardt made eight saves for O-State, which will host second-ranked Cortland at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Utica 16, Hartwick 9

Lauren Rosenberg had a team-high four goals, but visiting Hartwick surrendered five goals in the opening eight minutes en route to a Empire 8 Conference loss.

Colleen Dowling’s goal with 22:22 left in the first half gave the Pioneers (5-2, 1-1) a 5-0 lead.

After Hartwick closed to 9-4 at halftime, Utica scored the first five goals of the second half, including two apiece by Megan Kane and Rebecca Plunkett as the Pioneers’ lead increased to 14-4.
