Oneonta State allowed nine runs over the third and fourth innings Wednesday, leading to an 11-6 SUNY Athletic Conference baseball loss to visiting Fredonia.
Fredonia (14-5, 5-2) took a 9-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning after scoring five times in the top of the frame.
After falling behind, 4-0, the Red Dragons (9-15, 4-3) scored three times in the third inning. Ivan Plata drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single and Chris Massaroni later hit a two-out single through the left side that scored Dean Haussel.
Fredonia took advantage of four Oneonta errors in the fourth en route to a 9-3 lead. Plata’s sacrifice fly helped O-State to two runs in the fourth. Massaroni capped Oneonta’s scoring in the fifth with his second home run of the season.
The Blue Devils scored runs in the seventh and ninth innings for the final margin.
Jarred Bronley took the pitching loss for the Red Dragons, who will play a nine-inning game at 3 p.m. Friday at Oswego, weather-permitting.
Plattsburgh 16, O-State 6
Host Oneonta State (2-9, 0-3) failed to score in the first half of its SUNYAC loss.
Senior goalie Chris Miles stopped 19 of 45 shots for the Red Dragons, who host Potsdam at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Joey Kramer and Tim Lawrence each scored four goals for Plattsburgh (10-3, 2-1), which held a 50-31 edge in shots.
SUNYIT 12, Cobleskill 9
Kevin Gardrvits scored five times to lead SUNYIT to a (4-9, 3-1) to a North Eastern Athletic Conference road win.
Rob Neubert’s three goals paced the Fighting Tigers (2-5, 0-4), who entered halftime in a 5-all tie but were outscored, 6-2, in the third quarter.
Delhi 17, Jefferson 7
David Fernandes finished with five goals and four assists to lead visiting Delhi to a victory at General Brown High on Tuesday.
Paul Hylan contributed two goals and three assists for the fifth-ranked Broncos (8-2), who jumped to a 7-0 lead after one quarter against Jefferson (1-8).
