VOLLEYBALL

Delhi goes 1-2

SUNY Delhi followed consecutive losses with a 3-2 victory over Mohawk Valley Community College on Sunday during an NJCAA Region III POD event at Fulton-Montgomery CC.

Raven Worthing had nine digs and three kills in Delhi’s 25-19, 25-8, 25-9 loss to Herkimer County CC. The Broncos followed with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-9 loss to F-M. Michaela Reynolds had five digs, three kills, two aces and a block to pace Delhi.

Karissa Morey highlighted Delhi’s 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 15-9 win over Mohawk Valley with 22 assists, 10 kills and two aces.

Nicole DeMarco contributed 12 kills and 12 digs for the Broncos (5-7, 2-5 Region III), who received 10 kills, 12 digs and four aces from Worthing.

Delhi visits Herkimer on Wednesday.

GOLF

Dowling Shootout

SUNY Cobleskill’s men placed 14th out of 15 teams with 680 strokes during the two-day Dowling College September Shootout at the par-71 Long Island National Golf Club.

Freshman Ian Wilson paced the Fighting Tigers with a two-day total of 23-over-par 165.

On Monday, sophomore Eric Kim received co-Golfer of the Week honors from the North Eastern Athletic Conference. He led Cobleskill to a fourth-place finish at the Gator Invitational last Wednesday by shooting a 3-over par 75 to tie for third in the field of 32 players.

Cobleskill will compete in the Elmira Fall Invitational today.

HONORS

Women’s Soccer

The Empire 8 Conference selected Hartwick College junior goaltender Hope Brown as its Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Brown earned her second shutout of the season and seventh overall in a 1-0 defeat of Bard College on Wednesday. She also stopped six shots and gave up a penalty-kick goal Saturday, when the Hawks fell, 1-0, to ninth-ranked Ithaca.

Brown has allowed four goals in six games this season for Hartwick, which hosts Elmira on Wednesday.

Field Hockey

Hartwick freshman goaltender Shannon Carter earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Empire 8 on Monday.

Carter amassed 30 saves last week, with 13 against Rochester on Tuesday and 17 against Stevens on Saturday.

Carter has 41 saves this season for Hartwick, which hosts Manhattanville in a non-conference match Wednesday.
