Club accepting deer hides

The Bainbridge Sportsmen's Club and Chenango Federation are accepting donations of deer hides.

Money from the hides will be used to send youths to DEC camps.

To drop off deer hides, visit the Bainbridge Sportsmen's Club at 23 Pearl St. in Bainbridge.

Gossage to speak at Hall

Hall of Fame pitcher Goose Gossage will share stories from his career during a special Voices of the Game program at 5 p.m. Saturday at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Gossage had 310 career saves and was inducted into the Hall in 2008.

Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12-and-under. Museum members may reserve tickets by calling 607-547-0397 weekdays during regular business hours. Remaining tickets, if any, will be available to the general public this Monday.

The program also will feature special recognition for 30-year supporters of the Hall's Membership Program.

Colonial Ridge to host golf event

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the Morris Rotary Club's sixth annual Shoot Straight for Service Golf Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Entry fee for the 18-hole captain-and-crew tournament, which is open to the public, is $25 per person. Greens fees, carts and food cost extra.

Money raised will help fund the club's programs in Gilbertsville-Mount Upton and Morris Central schools.

The event features cash prizes for the top teams, door prizes, a 50-50 raffle and prizes for skills contests such as longest drive and putting.

Spartans 5K to run Sunday

The Unatego Booster Club will host the Sprintin for Spartans 5K run Sunday at Unatego Jr.-Sr. High.

Cost is $15 for pre-registered runners and $20 the day of the races. Checks should be made out to the Unatego Booster Club.

Registration runs from 8:15-9:45 a.m. Race time is 10 a.m. T-shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Delhi to host Pee Wee games Sunday

The Delhi Pee Wee Football Association will host two games at the Delhi American Legion Field near the pavilion Sunday.

The Delhi Jets will play the Oneonta Jr Jackets Gold team at 1 p.m., followed by the Delaware National Bank Bulldogs against Oneonta at 3 p.m.

Dodgeball tourney set for Monday

The Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown will host its first Columbus Day Kids Dodgeball Tournament on Monday.

Students in grades 3-6 may sign up as individuals and will be placed on a team.

Students in grades 7-8 and 9-12 may register as teams. Each team must have at least two of each gender to participate.

Cost is $3 for members and $6 for non-members. Registration deadline is Wednesday.

Cheerleaders to compete Oct. 20

The Binghamton University Events Center will host the Southern Tier Athletic Conference Cheerleading Competition at noon Oct. 20

Doors open at 11 a.m. Competition begins at noon.

Tickets cost $7 per person.

Hall to host World Series Gala

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host its annual World Series Gala on Oct. 26.

The gala centers on a live broadcast of Game 3 of the 109th World Series in the Hall's Grandstand Theater and offers refreshments, trivia, raffles and prizes.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26, with Game 3 at the home field of the National League champions expected to begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are required and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Museum members may reserve tickets today. Remaining tickets, if any, will be available to the general public Oct. 21 by calling the membership department at 607-547-0397.

Oneonta gun show Nov. 3

The Midstate Arms Collectors and Shooters Club will host its final gun and knife show of the season from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Oneonta Holiday Inn.

Admission for the Oneonta Gun Show is $2. Table reservations cost $15 and must be paid by cash in advance.

Lacrosse session starts Nov. 18

LacrosseOneonta's winter session at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will run Mondays from Nov. 18-Jan. 13, 2014.

Boys and girls in grades 3-7 will play between 6-7 p.m., followed by grades 8-12 from 7-9 p.m.

Cost is free, but participants must be members of the OBGC.

Delhi announces pool hours

SUNY Delhi's pool schedule through Dec. 15 is as follows.

Lap Swim: 7-8 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Monday-Friday)

Open Swim: 8-9:30 p.m. (M,W,F); 9-10 p.m. (Tue); 7-9 p.m. (F); 1-5 p.m. (Sat-Sun).

The pool will close for October break at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 and re-open Oct. 16.

There will be no open swim Nov. 23 (college swim meet).

The pool will close for the Thanksgiving break at noon Nov. 25 and re-open Dec. 2.

CSC Futsal league has opening

The Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown is looking for one more team to join its Co-Ed Futsal League this season.

The league will run Sunday nights in the fall and winter.

Youth conditioning classes set

The Oneonta Family YMCA will offer Youth Sports Conditioning at the Center Street School gym from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The program is open to area youths in grades 6 through age 18 and runs through Dec. 13.

Hall accepting intern applications

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting applications for next year's class at the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Leadership Development.

Applications for the Class of 2014 will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2014. The Steele Internship Program will provide students the chance to join the Hall in a 10-week summer internship.

To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year. Fifteen intern positions are available.
