O-State men lose, 1-0, at Scranton|

Staff Report

Oneonta State gave up a goal inside the first three minutes and failed to recover as host Scranton won a non-conference men’s soccer game, 1-0, on Wednesday.

Nick Paganelli followed Bill McGuiness’ serve over the Red Dragons defense to the top of the 18-yard box, where he touched the ball past oncoming goalie Vincent Pellegrino. The two collided, but Paganelli got just enough on the ball to send it into the net for a 1-0 Scranton lead 2:31 into the game.

Goalie Eric Hintz made a season-high six saves for the Royals (8-1-3), who finished with advantages of 18-12 in shots and 3-0 in corner kicks.

Pellegrino made one save in the first half for Oneonta (9-3-3), which got five saves from Daniel DeBottis in the second half.

The Red Dragons host a SUNY Athletic Conference game against New Paltz at 1 p.m. Saturday.

MSV 4, Cobleskill 0

Goalie David Melchor made five saves for his eighth shutout of the season as Mount Saint Vincent (11-4) beat visiting Cobleskill in a non-conference match.

Tucker Lewis stopped six shots for Cobleskill (0-12), which was outshot, 24-10.

Adirondack 3, Delhi 1

Dimitri Beauchamp gave the Broncos an early lead, but visiting SUNY Delhi fell in the Mountain Valley Conference.

Beauchamp opened the scoring 25 minutes into the first half after receiving a throughball from Nick Oliveria. Beauchamp settled the pass before scoring to the bottom-left corner from 12 yards.

Joe Bolter tied the score two minutes into the second half on a 20-yard shot that found the top-right corner. The go-ahead goal came with 15 minutes left in the second half, when a deflection in the box fell to Julio Cunningham; he tapped it in from close range.

Samuel Naiwo capped the scoring with eight minutes left.

Brendon Rivera made six saves for the Broncos (6-6, 4-3), who host Herkimer County Community College on Saturday.
