---- — Hall to host World Series Gala
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host its annual World Series Gala on Saturday.
The gala centers on a live broadcast of Game 3 of the 109th World Series in the Hall’s Grandstand Theater and offers refreshments, trivia, raffles and prizes.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, with Game 3 at the home field of the National League champions expected to begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets are required and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. For tickets, call the membership department at 607-547-0397.
TWC to televise Pit Run
Coverage of the 20th annual Pit Run will be televised on Time Warner Cable channel 23 at 2 p.m. this Saturday and Nov. 2.
Produced by SUNY Oneonta, the one-hour video features highlights of the 10-kilometer and 5K road races and the 2-mile stroll. The Oct. 6 event drew 1,004 runners and hundreds of walkers and spectators to Oneonta’s Neahwa Park.
Haile Mengasha of New York City won the 10K in a course-record time of 29 minutes, 53 seconds. Meseret Basa of New York City won the women’s 10K in 36:36.
Pit Run 5K winners were Gilbertsville’s Nate Lull (18:25) and Mary Rommer of Wells Bridge (20:50).
Softball camp to run Sundays
The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will run the Oneonta Fall Pitching Camp on Sundays through Nov. 24.
The fast-pitch softball camp is designed for players ages 8-18 who want to learn how to pitch or develop their skills.
Sessions I and II of the advanced/intermediate pitching camp for ages 13-18 will run from 1:30-2:30 p.m. and from 2:30-3:30 p.m., respectively. Session I will feature drills that reinforce mechanics, speed, accuracy and endurance. Session II will focus on new pitches, honing skills and drills to reinforce pitch and game strategies.
Registration fee is $80 for Session I and $130 for both sessions.
The camp also features a third session for beginners that will run from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Session III will cover mechanics, fundamentals, drills and strategies and costs $80.

Hartwick team to collect donations
The Hartwick College women’s lacrosse team will be going door-to-door in the City of Oneonta from 6-9 p.m. on Halloween night, asking residents for donations of non-perishable goods.
All donations received will be given to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Schenevus to host 3-on-3 tourney
Schenevus Central will hold its first 3-on-3 Little Big Man Basketball Tournament at 9 a.m. Nov. 9-10.
The event features boys and girls brackets for players in grades 7-9 and 10-12. Each team will play a minimum of three games.
Cost is $40 per team, with a maximum of four players per team. Proceeds will benefit Schenevus’ Class of 2016.

Oneonta gun show Nov. 3
The Midstate Arms Collectors and Shooters Club will host its final gun and knife show of the season from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Oneonta Holiday Inn.
Admission for the Oneonta Gun Show is $2. Table reservations cost $15 and must be paid by cash in advance.

Lacrosse session starts Nov. 18
LacrosseOneonta’s winter session at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will run Mondays from Nov. 18-Jan. 13, 2014.
Boys and girls in grades 3-7 will play between 6-7 p.m., followed by grades 8-12 from 7-9 p.m.
Cost is free, but participants must be members of the OBGC.

Youth conditioning classes set
The Oneonta Family YMCA will offer Youth Sports Conditioning at the Center Street School gym from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The program is open to area youths in grades 6 through age 18 and runs through Dec. 13.

Delhi to host water aerobics
Session II of SUNY Delhi’s water aerobics fall class will run from 5-6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 18.
Per-person cost is $6 per day, $20 for one day per week, $30 for two days per week, and $45 for three days per week.

SUNY Delhi’s pool schedule through Dec. 15 is as follows.
Lap Swim: 7-8 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
Open Swim: 8-9:30 p.m. (M,W,F); 9-10 p.m. (Tue); 7-9 p.m. (F); 1-5 p.m. (Sat-Sun).
The pool will close for October break at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 and re-open Oct. 16.
There will be no open swim Nov. 23 (college swim meet).
The pool will close for the Thanksgiving break at noon Nov. 25 and re-open Dec. 2.
Hall accepting intern applications
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting applications for next year’s class at the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Leadership Development.
Applications for the Class of 2014 will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2014. The Steele Internship Program will provide students the chance to join the Hall in a 10-week summer internship.
To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year. Fifteen intern positions are available.
