Hartwick football ends four-game skid


Cobleskill’s 200 free relay team of Merrin Gural, Stephanie Pyra, Margaret Keenan and Mackenzie Cross won in 2:04.37.

The Fighting Tigers’ men downed Mount Saint Mary’s, 121-17, and lost to Sarah Lawrence, 95-91.

Cobleskill (3-1) received wins from Nathan Krehler (50 free, 24.56), Nolan Graziano (100 breaststroke, 1:08.41), Brian Alt (100 backstroke, 1:01.67) and Josh Meilak (500 free, 6:44.90).

The Fighting Tigers will host Cedar Crest College and William Smith College at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cazenovia Invitational

SUNY Delhi’s men placed the first and the Broncos’ women were second at the Cazenovia Invitational on Saturday.

Matt Salle broke his Mountain Valley Conference record in 1-meter diving with an 11-dive score 473.3. The previous record of 467.35 was set by Salle on Jan. 27.

Delhi’s men finished with 415 points, beating runner-up Cazenovia, which had 229.

The Broncos’ women finished with 291 points. Cazenovia won with 341.

Delhi’s 400 relay team of Jacqueline Graziano, Vanessa Brown, Lily McEnaney and Keannie Rodriguez broke the MVC record with a time of 4:41.28 – 26 seconds faster than the former school record set in 1998 and nearly 11 seconds faster than the MVC record set in 2011.

Rodriguez also broke a school record in the 1,000 free. She finished 12:05.28, breaking the record of 12:50.39 set by Julie Halpin in 2005.

Delhi will swim against Herkimer at 1 p.m. Saturday.

MEN’S SOCCERHartwick to play Friday

Hartwick College’s Division I squad will oppose Western Michigan in a Mid-American Conference semifinal at 4 p.m. Friday at top-seeded Akron.

The winner between the third-seeded Hawks (5-7-4, 3-2-1) and No. 2 Western Michigan will play either Akron or No. 4 West Virginia in the title game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Western Michigan beat the host Hawks, 1-0, on Oct. 19.

The MAC winner earns an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament.
