OHS baseball earns pair of one-run wins Saturday

Winning pitcher DeJoy went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Komenda finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored for the Spartans, who received a home run to right-center by Ethan Barber in the seventh inning.

DeJoy had an RBI single and Kyle Spaulding contributed an RBI double has Unatego scored three times in the first inning. DeJoy’s two-run single in the fourth inning increased the Spartans’ lead to 7-1.

Spaulding and Jared Jones had two hits apiece for Unatego (3-1), which will travel to Sherburne-Earlville at 11 a.m. today.

Sidney 15, Whitney Point 1

Senior Billy Kozak struck out nine and allowed one hit through five scoreless innings, and had two hits to lead visiting Sidney to a non-league victory.

Jon Gorschak and Jordan Constable each threw one inning for the Warriors to complete the three-hitter.

Sidney (3-1) scored five times in the first inning. Gorschak’s two-run double was the big hit in the inning. Brandon Bessett contributed a two-run home run in Sidney’s seven-run third inning. Bessett’s second homer of the season went to left.

Chris Fischer had three hits, and Gorschak, Bessett and Alex Hoskins had two hits apiece for Sidney, which will play a pair of road games today. The Warriors will travel to Sauquoit Valley at 11 a.m. before playing at Delhi at 4:30 p.m.

SOFTBALLWindsor 2, Oneonta 0

Junior Brieanna Baker struck out 11 and walked none in a six-hitter for Oneonta High, which lost on the road to the defending Class B state champions.

“BB pitched fantastic, especially against those guys,” Oneonta coach Randy Brockway said. “They’re probably the best-hitting team in Class B. We tried to keep them off balance with a change-up.”

Windsor (2-0, 2-0) opened the scoring in the third inning, when Mara Kohlbach singled, went to second on a sacrifice and scored on Allison Lockwood’s single to left.
