O-State to host wrestling clinics

Oneonta State will host its Red Dragon Wrestling Clinic Series on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Chase Physical Education Building wrestling room through April 22.

The elementary school division runs from 6-7 p.m. and focuses on fundamentals and technique. The middle/high school division runs from 7-8 p.m. and focuses on fundamentals, technique, drills, match strategy and training.

O-State wrestling coach Duane Ritter will run the series, which will feature assistants Rocco Caponi, Bill Cooper, Mike Hamilton and Nate Leonard. O-State wrestlers and PHED 207 coaching certification students will serve as volunteer coaches and guest clinicians as well.

Golf leagues start soon

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens is accepting sign-ups for 2014 league play.

Leagues will meet on the following dates:

April 24: Thursday PM Men, 5 p.m.

April 26: Friday PM Couples, 5 p.m.

April 28: Monday AM Ladies, 9 a.m.; Monday PM Ladies, 5:30 p.m.

April 29: Tuesday AM Men, 9 a.m..

May 1: Thursday AM Seniors, 8:30 a.m.

League play costs $7 per week for non-course members. A one-time fee of $25 for dues pays for the banquet and prizes.

Oneonta to host Pitch, Hit & Run

The City of Oneonta will host a local qualifier for the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition from 5-7 p.m. April 25 at Oneonta Little League’s Doc Knapp Field.

Participation is free and open to boys and girls ages 7-14 as of July 17, 2014.

Each child must have a parent/guardian complete a registration form, which is available at the recreation office or from Oneonta Little League coaches.

Winners advance to sectional competition at Damaschke Field.
