Covered Bridge Run is June 7

The 19th annual Delhi Covered Bridge Run is set for June 7. The event features a 10-kilometer run, a 5K run and a 5K health walk.

Entry forms are online at www.clasiladies.com/delhi-covered-bridge-run.html. Entry fee is $20 for those who sign up online and $25 at the race. Long-sleeved T-shirts are guaranteed to those who register before May 1.

Proceeds will fund two scholarships to Delaware County graduating seniors and the Catskill Mountain Club for building hiking trails in Delaware County.

Race director Amy Beveridge said via email that last year’s event drew 469 participants and raised more than $15,000.

Lumberjack qualifiers June 7

STIHL TIMBERSPORTS will host its Professional Northeast Qualifier for the area’s top lumberjacks June 7 in Cooperstown.

Local residents will take part in the hot saw, single buck, springboard chop, standing block chop, stock saw and underhand chop for a chance to earn entry into the U.S. Championship, which will run from June 20-22 at Norfolk Scope Arena in Virginia and air on ABC in September.

Hall to celebrate 75th anniversary

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will celebrate its 75th anniversary June 12.

Hall of Famers Joe Morgan and Cal Ripken Jr. will take part in a dedication ceremony on the Hall’s front steps at 11 a.m. June 12.

At 1 p.m., local residents Homer Osterhoudt and Howard Talbot, who were present for the opening of the museum June 12, 1939, will share their memories in the Bullpen Theater.

The Hall will open its newest exhibit, Babe Ruth: His Life and Legend, at 10 a.m. June 13. Members of the Ruth family will be present.
