Matt Dacey hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday, leading the Albany Dutchmen to a 10-0 rout of the host Cooperstown Hawkeyes in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game at Doubleday Field.
Joe Purritano had three hits and winning pitcher Kyle Pheland allowed two hits over seven innings for the Dutchmen (6-1), who lead the PGCBL’s East Division. Albany jumped to a 9-0 lead after four innings, following a four-run third with a five-run fourth.
Cameron Day, Nate Lotze, Nolan Ray and Ryan Hanahan singled for the second-place Hawkeyes (6-3), who were outhit, 14-4.
Cooperstown starting pitcher Cody Smith gave up nine runs — seven earned — on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings.
The Hawkeyes, who drew 603 fans, play a doubleheader at the Newark Pilots today then host the Adirondack Trail Blazers at 5 p.m. Friday.
