Girls AAU tryouts Sunday

The Catskill Mountain Girls Basketball Club will hold AAU tryouts on three dates in March.

Tryouts for players in grades 6-8 will run from 12:30-2 p.m. March 3, 10 and 17. Tryouts for players in grades 9-11 will follow from 2-3:30 p.m. each day.

Registration begins 30 minutes before tryouts. A non-refundable tryout fee of $25 is required and covers AAU registration and expenses.

Player participation fee for 2013 is $300 and covers the cost of tournament player registration and uniforms. This fee must be paid upon a player’s selection on the second day of tryouts.

Teams will play weekend tournaments from late April until June and practice about once a week. For more information, call Tim Smith at 607-437-4507 or email timsmith@stny.rr.com.

Laurens to host 3-on-3 events

The Laurens Booster Club will host double-elimination 3-on-3 tournaments for adults and youths March 8 and 9, respectively.

Registration for the adult tournament starts at 5:30 p.m. March 8, with play to follow at 6 p.m. Pre-registration cost is $40 per team. The tournament features men’s and women’s divisions for ages 18-29 and 30-and-over. Champions and runner-ups will receive prizes.

Registration for the youth tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. March 9, with a shooting contest to follow at 9 a.m. Play starts after the shooting contest is completed.

Pre-registration cost is $40 per team. The tournament features boys and girls divisions for grades 5-6, 1-9 and 10-12. Champions and runner-ups will receive prizes.

Milford to hold 3-on-3 tourney

The Milford Education Foundation and Booster Club’s fourth annual March Madness 3-on-3 co-ed basketball tournament will start at 1 p.m. March 9 at Milford Central’s Anton Remy Jr. Gymnasium.

Entry forms for the double-elimination tournament must be submitted by March 1 to be considered early registration. Each team must have a minimum of three players and a maximum of four.
