Hartwick College fell behind late in the first half of Friday night’s Empire 8 Conference men’s basketball game and failed to recover as host Nazareth earned a 77-62 victory.
The Golden Flyers (8-3) closed the first half on a 13-2 run to take a 38-29 lead into the break.
Jared Suderley scored a team-high 18 points for the Hawks (6-5, 0-2), who received 15 points and nine rebounds from Kyle Bradley. Laurens graduate Aaron Laing contributed 11 points and made all four of his field goal attempts for Hartwick, which pulled to 46-40 with 12 minutes, 5 seconds left but couldn’t get any closer.
Brad Ford finished with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds for Nazareth, which received 18 points from Scott Hayford, 14 from Tyshun Stephens and 10 from Jack Giles.
Hartwick visits Houghton for a non-conference game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
