Hartwick pair


Senior Kenny Kleso and freshman Imma Rutigliano of Hartwick College earned Empire 8 Conference men’s and women’s swimming and diving athlete of the week honors Monday.

Kleso helped Hartwick to a 177-97 victory over Cortland State by wnning the 500-yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. He touched in 4 minutes, 47.68 seconds in the 500 free and set a Moyer Pool record of 58.32 in the 100 breaststroke. The previous mark was 59.15.

Kleso also placed second in the 1,000 free in 9:58.61 and contributed to the Hawks’ 200 medley relay victory with a 27.47 split in the 50 breaststroke.

Rutigliano won three events in Harwtick’s 163-135 win over Cortland.

She won the 100 backstroke (1:03.74), the 200 back (2:17.49) and the 200 IM (2:19.88). Her 29.61 50 backstroke split in the 200 medley relay also helped the Hawks to victory.

Hartwick will face Alfred University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
