Hartwick women win big

(Continued)

Hartwick went 28-13 last season under head coach Alan Huckins, whose team returns 14 players.

Sasha Freeborn should be one of Hartwick’s top scoring threats. Last season, she had 57 goals, 45 assists and 44 steals. Fellow senior Lily Martinez also returns. She had 43 goals, 34 assists and 38 steals in 2012.

Other returning seniors are Allison Kosich, Natalie Seabourn, Laura Kuzma and Haley Cox. Kosich, Seabourn and Kuzma combined for 63 goals, 40 assists, 93 points and 34 steals last season.

Cox started 29 games in goal last season and stopped 231 shots. She is the lone goalie on the Hawks’ roster, which includes juniors Jemma Dendy Young and Sami Capparelli; sophomore Kamila Zakirova, who was the CWPA Western Division Rookie of the Year last season; and Maryland transfer Katie Ermakova, among others.
