Freshman Brittney Dumas scored her college high of 27 points to lead Hartwick College to a 52-46 Empire 8 Conference women’s basketball victory Tuesday at Stevens.
Dumas also had 10 rebounds for the Hawks (16-4, 8-1), who rallied from a four-point deficit in the final 30 seconds of regulation. Maria Foglia’s three-pointer with 6.7 seconds left tied the score at 43 and forced overtime.
Hartwick scored the first eight points of overtime to beat the Ducks for the second time in seven days. Hartwick earned a 69-67 win over Stevens last week as Foglia hit a driving layup with 17 seconds left to snap a 67-all tie.
Foglia’s free throw with 3:28 left in overtime gave Hartwick the lead for keeps. Lee Arduini contributed a three-pointer that made it 47-43 and Purcell hit a three throw with 1:02 to play to make it a five-point spread.
Foglia finished with 11 rebounds, nine points, four assists and four steals for the Hawks, who visit Utica on Feb. 5.
