Section Four A-B
Oneonta High set three indoor school records Friday during the Section Four Class A-B Championships at Cornell University.
Cameron Hazard, Ben Gollin, Mat Robinson and Scott Conrade crossed in 3 minutes, 41.98 seconds to finish fourth in the boys 1,600-meter relay.
The Yellowjackets girls got a second in the same event from Marly Davies, Alexandra Sakoulas, Mary Buzzanca and Missy Emilio, who finished in 4:21.60. Eight-grader Davies ran the lead leg in place of Shelby Cleaveland, who pulled a hamstring at the end of the 55 earlier in the meet.
Both times marked OHS records, as did Jen Jelic’s third-place time of 9.24 in the girls 55 hurdles. Brittney Herrick cleared 5 feet to tie for second in the high jump for OHS, which placed sixth out of 10 teams with 29 points. Elmira District won the team title with 132.33 points.
Ben Gollin and John Gell paced the boys with seconds in the 1,600 (4:35.10) and pole vault (11-0), respectively. OHS placed sixth with 31 points in the 11-team championships, which were won by Corning (129 points).
