Hartwick to send six swimmers to NCAAs

Hartwick announces schedule

Hartwick released its men’s soccer schedule for the 2013 fall season Tuesday.

The Hawks open with non-conference games at Fairfield (Aug. 30) and Syracuse (Sept. 2). Hartwick Hall of Famers Carl Rees and Ian McIntyre coach Fairfield and Syracuse, respectively.

Hartwick will then host Robert Morris, Cornell and Detroit Mercy in the annual Mayor’s Cup, which runs Sept. 6 and 8 at Elmore Field. The Hawks will face Robert Morris and Cornell in the Cup.

Also of note is Hartwick’s Mid-American Conference opener, set for Oct. 5 at defending champion Akron.

Head coach John Scott led the Hawks to a 5-10-2 record in his third season last fall. Hartwick’s complete 2013 schedule is as follows:

HONORS

NEAC Softball

The North Eastern Athletic Conference honored SUNY Cobleskill freshman Erin Wadsworth as its Softball Pitching Co-Student Athlete of the Week on Sunday. Wadsworth shares the award with Penn State Abington sophomore Michaela Drogalis.

Right-hander Wadsworth pitched the first no-hitter in the program’s NCAA Division III history March 11, when she struck out 15 and walked three in a 3-2 non-conference victory over SUNY Canton.
