Mattice won the ball, took two dribbles before sending throughball to Gockel on the left side. Gockel took a touch before sending an 18-yard shot inside the far post.
“They had a couple of chances at the end of the game,” Gilboa coach April Houghtaling said. “They were pushing up. They lofted two good ones.”
Gilboa keeper Allison McGuire made nine saves.
The Wildcats (4-2, 2-1) will travel to Jefferson on Thursday.
Jefferson 2, H-T 1
The second of Emily Wenner’s two goals snapped a 1-all and lifted host Jefferson to a Delaware League victory.
Wenner controlled a long throw-in from Shiann Bellinger and before converting a 12-yard shot to give the J-Hawks a 2-1 lead with 9:48 remaining.
Wenner tied the score at 1 with 34:17 left. Her 18-yard shot from the left side beat Samantha Dibble (13 saves).
Meghan Powers scored in the first half for Hunter-Tannesville.
Jefferson (1-4, 1-1) is at Margaretville today.
Windham 2, Stamford 1
Caitlyn Lane scored two goals to lead visiting Windham to a Delaware League win in overtime.
Stamford opened the scoring four minutes in, when Brandy Fane finished a one-on-one opportunity off a pass from Gabrielle Caiazzo.
Lane tied it three minutes after halftime off a throughball from Brianna Jaeger. Lane’s second goal came halfway through the first overtime, off an assist in the box from Natalie Vining.
Stamford (2-3, 1-1) hosts Davenport at 7 p.m. Thursday.
