Junior middle hitter Kady Porterfield amassed a team-high 12 kills and three blocks Thursday, but the SUNY Cobleskill volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Sage College in non-conference play.
Freshman setter Katie Yang contributed a team-best 20 assists for the Fighting Tigers (5-7), who lost, 19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22.
Helen Putiment, who graduated from Cobleskill-Richmondville High, had 13 kills and 20 digs to pace the Gators (4-11). Teammate Joanie Cooney finished with a match-high 46 assists.
Cobleskill will compete Saturday in the first North Eastern Athletic Conference Inter-Divisional Play Weekend at Keuka College. The Fighting Tigers open against Penn State Abington at 4 p.m. and follow with a 6 p.m. match against Gallaudet University.
SUNY Cobleskill’s B Team finished fourth out of five men’s squads at the Gator Invitational, which ran Thursday at the par-72 Olde Kinderhook Golf Course in Valatie.
Eric Kim shot a 3-over 75 to tie for third overall in the field of 32 players for the Fighting Tigers, who had 332 strokes. He placed behind two players from The College of Saint Rose, an NCAA Division II program.
Cobleskill’s A Team will compete this weekend in the Dowling College Fall Shootout at the par-71 Long Island National Golf Club in Riverhead.
