Unatego rides QB past Delhi

The Spartans will host Deposit/Hancock on Friday.

B-G 28, UV 0

Dylan Moffitt rushed for a game-high 123 yards, including a 62-yard scoring run in the first quarter, to lead host Bainbridge-Guilford to a Section Four Football Conference Division V victory.

The Bobcats (1-4, 1-2) scored on their second play from scrimmage. Moffitt went off tackle for 62 yards and Lucas Butcher’s extra point made it 7-0.

“We had great blocking up front,” B-G coach Tim Mattingly said.

Pedro Aparicio scored on a 4-yard run late in the first quarter. B-G recovered a Unadilla Valley fumble to set up Aparicio’s touchdown. Butcher’s PAT extended the Bobcats’ lead to 14-0.

Quarterback Cole Webb scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter and contributed a 15-yard scoring run in the third quarter.

Webb suffered a broken hand in B-G’s opener and hadn’t played the last three weeks.

“It made a big difference having Cole Webb back at quarterback,” Mattingly said. “He did a really nice job of running the offense.”

Mattingly estimated B-G’s defense had eight sacks. He credited middle linebacker Dylan Mondore, nose tackle Shane Curtin, and outside linebackers Webb and Moffitt with the pressure the Bobcats put on UV quarterback Lance Gage.

“The effort defensively was the best we’ve had all season,” said Mattingly, whose team will travel to Delhi on next Saturday.

Dillon Rifanburg had 25 yards rushing and Gage threw for 42 yards for UV (0-5, 0-3).

Sidney 38, Seton CC 22

Sidney (3-2, 2-1) defeated visiting Seton Catholic Central in a Section Four Football Conference Division VI game Friday night. No other information was available at press time.
