OHS volleyball sweeps JC to improve to 10-1

Brittney Herrick had 14 kills and four digs to lead Oneonta High to a 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 Southern Tier Athletic Conference volleyball victory Tuesday at Johnson City.

Krissy Wells contributed three blocks and a match-high 15 assists for the Yellowjackets (10-1).

Oneonta will host Windsor on Thursday for a chance to clinch the STAC East division. The Yellowjackets rallied for a five-game win over the Black Knights in the teams’ first meeting.

Sidney 3, Walton 0

Paige Redmond had 10 assists, Taylor Krom finished with eight kills, and Jilleen Livingston contributed six aces and six digs as host Sidney won, 25-20, 25-14, 25-15, in a Midstate Athletic Conference match.

Amber Pierce had five kills for Walton (6-7), which will host Hancock on Thursday.

Sidney (11-2) will play visiting Deposit on Friday.

UV 3, Afton 0

Haley Benson’s 15 aces and three kills helped Unadilla Valley to a 25-14, 25-11, 27-25 Midstate Athletic conference victory over visiting Afton.

Shannon McIntyre contributed five kills, five assists and three aces for the Storm (8-4), who will host Deposit on Wednesday.

Alisha Hubbard had five assists, four aces and three digs for the Crimson Knights (2-11), who will play visiting Harpursville on Friday.

Deposit 3, Delhi 0

Kayla Cappiello had 10 digs and Mindy Schmitz finished with six digs for visiting Delhi, which lost a Midstate Athletic Conference match, 25-16, 25-10, 25-16.

Shelby Pettersen led the Lumberjacks (9-3) with seven aces, five assists and four kills.

Delhi is 1-12.

B-G 3, Unatego 0

Betsy Holden had five kills as host Bainbridge-Guilford won, 25-11, 25-13, 27-25, in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Morgan Bullis contributed four assists, two kill and two blocks for the Bobcats (11-3), who will host Delhi on Friday on Senior Night.

Marissa Woodard had seven kills for the Spartans (4-9), who will host Unadilla Valley on Thursday on Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness night.

CROSS COUNTRY

at Fortin Park

Logan Mancuso placed first to lead Oneonta High’s boys to a 24-35 Southern Tier Athletic Conference victory over Chenango Forks.

Mancuso completed the 2.6-mile course in 15 minutes, 31 seconds. Mancuso’s teammate, Sam Baskin, finished second in 15:52 for the Yellowjackets (4-0), who clinched the STAC East Division title.

The Yellowjackets’ girls fell, 24-35, to Forks.

Missy Emilio and Jamie Keown finished third and fourth, respectively, for OHS. Emilio crossed in 19:27 and Keown finished in 19:53.

The Yellowjackets will travel to the Loyal-Greenman Invitational on Saturday at Ely Park in Binghamton.

FIELD HOCKEY

Sidney 3, Hancock 1

Katy DeShaw scored two goals to lead visiting Sidney to a Section Four Conference victory.

DeShaw opened the scoring five minutes in off a pass from Hannah Wood. Wood also finished with a goal for the Warriors.

Hancock’s Meghan Smith tied it 11 minutes later after receiving a pass from Alyssa Makowski.

DeShaw gave Sidney the lead for keeps with 25 minutes left in the second on an unassisted goal from 12 yards.

Hancock (2-10) will host Windsor on Friday for a continuance of their last game, which was postponed because of weather.

Deposit 2, Walton 0

Chloe Bergman and Kassi Cook scored for the host Lumberjacks, who a Section Four Conference game.

Emily Bartlett made 11 saves for Walton (3-9, 2-6), which will host Hancock on Thursday.
