Redskins girls get their kicks

Singles and doubles winners and second-place finishers will advance to the state qualifiers, which run Oct. 25-26 at the Binghamton Tennis Center. The state championships are set for Nov. 3-5 in Latham.

Joelle Favret earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at first singles for Delhi, which received a 6-2, 6-2 win at second doubles from Emily Kollig and Alexis Rosa.

VOLLEYBALL

Unatego 3, Walton 2

Leanne McKee had 15 aces and Michaela Reynolds contributed 13 as Unatego rallied for a MAC victory on the road.

Reynolds also had 11 kills for the Spartans (1-10), who came back from a 25-6 loss in the first game. Unatego won the second, 25-19, but dropped the third, 28-26. The Spartans then closed with wins of 25-7 and 25-16.

Hunter Wildey had 11 kills to pace Walton (3-8), which received 12 assists from Maggie Kuebler.

Unatego visits Afton on Saturday. Walton is at Delhi on Wednesday.

Deposit 3, Delhi 0

Catherine Bush had six aces and Shelby Pettersen contributed six kills as Deposit cruised to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-20 Midstate Athletic Conference victory on the road.

Emily Salemen had 11 digs to pace the Bulldogs (2-10), who host Walton on Wednesday.

Deposit (11-2) visits Oxford on Wednesday.

Hancock 3, Afton 2

Demi Travis had seven aces and four kills to pace Hancock in a 21-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-11, 25-18 MAC victory on the road.

Alisha Hubbard’s six kills and six aces led the Crimson Knights (3-8), who received seven kills from Bekah Prezorski and 10 digs from Sabrina Button.

Afton hosts Unatego on Saturday. Hancock (5-5) plays Bainbridge-Guilford at home Tuesday.
