Hartwick men's soccer falls short on the road

Guglielmo opened the scoring in the seventh minute off a cross from Oneonta High graduate Lindsey Doxtader, the 2007 Daily Star Player of the Year for the Yellowjackets.

Guglielmo made it 2-0 three minutes later with an unassisted goal.

Freshman Erica Berry capped the scoring in the 67th minute, earning her first collegiate goal by heading in a pass from Elise Moinzadeh.

Freshmen goalies Kelley Murphy and Rori Stark combined on the shutout for Oneonta, which won its fifth straight and eighth out of the last nine games.

O-State visits Hamilton on Wednesday.

Hartwick 4, Alfred 0

Cristina Sicari scored twice to lead host Hartwick to its first Empire 8 Conference victory of the season.

Sicari scored her first goal a little more than three minutes into the first half for Hartwick (4-6-1, 1-2-1).

Mackenzie Shipley’s corner kick set up Carly Pine for a header that made it 2-0 in the 38th minute. A little more than two minutes later, Sicari sent a long shot past Saxons goalkeeper Ashley Frazell for a 3-0 lead.

Sicari then assisted Kylie Thayer for the final goal as Hartwick finished with a 23-1 advantage in shots.

Hope Brown made one save for Hartwick which hosts Houghton College tonight.
